TECHNOBOY’s February 2025 collection felt like the final stretch of an all-night bender—skin buzzing, bass still rattling your chest, cigarette smoke clinging to your coat as you stumble out of a warehouse, but the high hasn’t worn off just yet. SEXSUIT wasn’t just a fashion statement; it was a series of messages, stitched into the fabric—a love letter to late nights and bodies moving like they’ll never crash. And the mastermind behind it all? Menyelek, the OG TECHNOBOY, whose very existence seems to challenge everything we think we know about fashion.

I had the rare chance to sit down with Menyelek for an interview—my most raw and unfiltered one yet, unlike anything I’ve ever put out before. This wasn’t just a conversation about clothes; it was about the pure essence of a designer who doesn’t just create pieces, he creates a lifestyle—a world defined by chaos, passion, and the relentless pursuit of freedom. The experience of SEXSUIT goes beyond fabric and stitching; it’s about the visceral energy Menyelek has injected into every corner of his work.

Techno Boy is the brainchild of Menyelek Rose, a designer who’s been steadily rewriting the rules of fashion with every collection. Menyelek, originally from Baltimore, left a place he described as “having nothing for him,” it’s safe to say he found more than he ever imagined right here in the Big Apple, where chaos meets brilliance, and underground rebellion becomes high fashion. His first collection, shown at just 15 years old, had his grandmother sitting front row—a full-circle moment that’s only the beginning of his journey. His work isn’t just about clothes—it’s about creating moments that stick in your brain like a looping synth line long after the music stops. Past shows have proven that he doesn’t cater to expectations; he deconstructs them, flips them inside out, and sets them on fire.

Whether through raw DIY aesthetics, distorted silhouettes, or the sheer unpredictability of his presentations, Menyelek’s designs feel like they were born in the underground and refuse to be dragged into the light. He thrives on tension—between destruction and refinement, nostalgia and futurism, spontaneity and precision.

The set of the SEXSUIT show was a fever dream in itself. It wasn’t just a runway show—it was an immersive experience. Models didn’t just walk; they carried, some dropping to the floor, eating each other's faces for ten minutes, sending a clear message that this collection was about energy, sex, and raw emotion, while others went as far as doing a line of blow on the main stage, taking the idea of rebellion to its furthest point. The DJ set, by Yuriy Roberts, was hot and steamy, going deep into the night, setting the scene for an event that kept us on edge, wondering what would happen next. The models moved in a square formation, their motions unpredictable, their presence commanding. Smudged lipstick, sweat-slicked skin—pillow princess declarations stamped across their faces. The set design, crafted by Kate Bolster-Houghton, locked us into the moment. It was gritty, alive, and unfiltered, pulling us into an underground scene so consuming that by the time we stumbled out, the sun had already reclaimed the sky.  This collection had 30 looks—each one unique and bold, taking ready-to-wear to a new level, anything but mundane.

Fashion photographer and producer, Joshua Coln said it best: “Iconic, luxe, and anything but basic,” while designer and icon, The Twink Next Door described the show as the experimental edge NYFW so desperately needs. SEXSUIT kept everyone on edge, never letting the energy drop. Every moment hit like a shock to the system—unpredictable, charged, impossible to look away from. Each piece didn’t just sit on the runway; it pulled you in, demanding to be felt. That’s the brilliance of SEXSUIT—it wasn’t just about what you wore. It was about what it did to you.

When you ask Menyelek about his inspiration for the collection, he’ll tell you bluntly, “It’s really not that fucking deep.” And yet, beneath that simple statement is a design ethos that’s anything but shallow. SEXSUIT isn’t about fashion in the conventional sense—it’s about sensation. It’s about losing yourself to the night, about pushing limits just to see what’s on the other side. It’s about making art that shocks, excites, and makes you feel something controversial, something you didn’t even know you were missing. “Sex sells,” Menyelek says with a smirk, and he’s not wrong. He gives us exactly what we want—chaos, passion, and a visual feast that’s as raw as it is captivating.

But the genius of Menyelek lies in how he channels that chaos with intent. With two lines under the belt of this revolutionary designer, TECHNOBOY is the fast food of fashion—raw, impulsive, and instantly gratifying while MENYELEK is the gourmet 12-course meal set with intention and references to the greatest designers in past and present history—even referencing himself time and time again. He pulls from his raw truth, blending it all into a whole new vision that refuses to be contained.

And this isn’t just a collection for the masses. SEXSUIT is for the ones brave enough to wear it, the ones who aren’t afraid of the dark. In true Technoboy fashion, the finale was a shock—one last jolt to remind everyone that nothing about this collection was meant to be clean, neat, or polished. Menyelek’s approach to design has never been about comfort; it’s about pushing boundaries, challenging the conventional, and leaving us wanting more. He doesn’t care if you’re ready for it, he’s going to give it to you anyway. The chaos, the energy, the sweat—it’s all part of the experience.

This collection wasn’t just a statement. It was a warning: SEXSUIT isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s for those who are willing to surrender to the experience, to let the night take them to places they never expected. Menyelek isn’t interested in playing it safe. He’s creating a world where fashion isn’t just something you wear—it’s something you feel, something you love, something that takes you over.

MENYELEK has created a moment in time. SEXSUIT is proof that fashion can be a high—a rush, a feeling, an experience—and that’s what makes it unforgettable. It’s not just clothes—it’s a rebellion, a celebration, and a reminder that sometimes, the only thing that matters is being in the moment, living it all, and never looking back.
