INTERVIEW BY Isaac Taylor Shane

ISAAC TAYLOR SHANE - What is one piece of advice that you want to give to Black creatives WORLDWIDE?
EBUNY BLAZE - LOVE
ISAAC TAYLOR SHANE - What inspired the name EBUNY BLAZE?
EBUNY BLAZE - 'Ebony Blaze' by Roy Ayers. But I added the U for Unity. Ebuny is the hue of my people & Blaze is the burning love that I have for my people and community.
ISAAC TAYLOR SHANE - How would you describe your aesthetic?
EBUNY BLAZE - Classic Fly Girl. B.A.P. AG.
ISAAC TAYLOR SHANE - What inspires you? How do you find inspiration?
EBUNY BLAZE - Black Glamour. Black Television. Black Family. Black Love. Black Emotions. Black Sound. Black Art.
ISAAC TAYLOR SHANE - What is the importance of creative expression in our lives, especially us Black creatives?
EBUNY BLAZE - We couldn't breathe without expression. We can wear and feel our emotions without even speaking and Black Art is emotion. Without creating and expressing ourselves, we wouldn't be able to exist.

ISAAC TAYLOR SHANE - Who do you create for?
EBUNY BLAZE - I create for my people. When I say my people, I do not only mean Black people because all skinfolk not kinfolk.
ISAAC TAYLOR SHANE - What change do you want to see in the Fashion Industry?
EBUNY BLAZE - I want to see more authentic stories. There's so many niche circles of black creatives, who are doing an immaculate job at amplifying their communities and their art, whose message should be amplified.
ISAAC TAYLOR SHANE - What has been your experience as a Black creative in NYC thus far?
EBUNY BLAZE - NYC makes everywhere feel like a simulation. So many things are simultaneously going on while you have your own life and things can be so common so easily. It's been a fascinating experience of the Millennial Renaissance. Being able to connect with such a range of Black creatives is everything I've hoped for in this point of my experience.
ISAAC TAYLOR SHANE - What is your favorite quote ? Why?
EBUNY BLAZE - "Show me someone full of herself and i'll show you a hungry person." It's such a selfish expression of love that it's admirable. It reminds you that without loving yourself, you're empty.
ISAAC TAYLOR SHANE - What legacy do you want to create? How do you want to be remembered?
EBUNY BLAZE - I will create a legacy of gratitude, love, and good taste. I want to be remembered as a vessel. I want people to encounter me and feel something nostalgic and pure in their soul.

ISAAC TAYLOR SHANE - How do you stay authentic and connected to your truest self?
EBUNY BLAZE - Love. In all capacities: self love, platonic love, parental love, family love & love for others. Love for fashion. Love for people. Love for art.
ISAAC TAYLOR SHANE - What have you experienced, or are experiencing now, that you dreamed about when you were younger?
EBUNY BLAZE - I'm constantly evolving into the person I always dreamed about but couldn't put a face to. I'm becoming who I'm meant to be.
ISAAC TAYLOR SHANE - What is your dream project or collaboration?
EBUNY BLAZE - My dream project is to curate an event, a safe space for Black creatives with my closest friends, something annual.
ISAAC TAYLOR SHANE - What's next in your creative journey?
EBUNY BLAZE - Stepping out on faith. Taking proper steps to really believe in what I know I was meant to do but haven't done yet.
ISAAC TAYLOR SHANE - How can we create more space for representation, diversity, and inclusivity of Black creatives in Fashion, Art, Beauty, Music, and Online, WORLDWIDE?
EBUNY BLAZE - Stay authentic. Keep it for the people. Start conversations. Try something new. Be genuine.
